About Us

ARMAND BAYOU WATERSHED WORKING GROUP:

Structure

While all ABWWG meetings are open to the public, the group is structured into a Steering Committee --which directs the group, its projects, and research--and several Subcommittees, which vary in number and membership by the current activity in the watershed. In addition, there is a Technical Advisory Pool, an ad hoc group that does not meet as a group but provides technical information and advise to the Working Group.

Steering Committee

The Armand Bayou Watershed Working Group is directed by the Steering Committee, which meets quarterly, at locations rotating throughout the watershed. The Steering Committee is responsible for incorporating the information into the larger, comprehensive, watershed plan.

Subcommittees

The ABWWG is divided into various subcommittees--the number and projects of which vary over time. The current subcommittees are:

Habitat

Water Quality/TMDL

Outreach

Project Review (previously Spencer Wetland subcommittee)

Flooding and Stormwater

Technical Advisory Pool

Numerous agencies provide services that affect Armand Bayou and its watershed, but are not true members of the Armand Bayou Watershed Working Group. However, their experience and expertise prove valuable to members of the ABWWG. These agencies do not form an actual committee and do not meet, per se, but rather create a "pool" to which the Working Group refers for technical advice. The steering committee or any of the subcommittees may invite members or the entire Technical Advisory Pool to attend their meetings to provide advice, insight, and guidance when making decisions affecting the watershed.
